Title
REVISIONS TO THE YOUTH SPORTS COMMITTEE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Body
SUMMARY
In 2021, the Community and Human Services Commission approved revisions to the Youth Sports Policies and Procedures document, which governs the general functions of the Committee. Included in the policies and procedures document is a provision that allows an organization represented on the Youth Sports Committee to send an alternative on behalf of the primary representative. This provision may conflict with some requirements of the Brown Act, and therefore, staff recommends the provision for alternates be removed from the Youth Sports Committee Policies and Procedures.
RECOMMENDATION
Recommended Action
The Youth Sports Committee recommends that the Community and Human Services Commission approve the revisions to the Youth Sports Committee Policies and Procedures as they relate to alternate representatives as follows:
A. Remove Section C, Subsection 2 in its entirety, which reads, “If the primary representative is not able to attend, they may designate an alternate representative that also has the ability to make decisions on behalf of their organization.”
B. Remove the words “or alternate” from Section C, Subsection 18, Subsection d.
