SUMMARY

 

The City Council traditionally cancels the two regular City Council meetings in August.

 

Staff recommends that this practice continue. Should an item of business arise that the City Council must consider during this time, a special meeting will be scheduled.

Recommended Action

Staff recommends the City Council cancel the regular City Council meetings of August 11, 2026 and August 25, 2026.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

 

The staff cost to prepare this report is estimated at $507 and is included in the operating budget of the Administrative Services Department.

 

 

 

ANALYSIS

 

August has traditionally been established as a month to target vacation scheduling for City staff, Councilmembers, and Commissioners, as well as providing meeting down time to catch up on other projects. Many community members also schedule vacation during this month. Staff recommends this practice continue to provide coordinated vacation scheduling and to facilitate maximum public engagement.

Staff has evaluated the agenda item in relationship to the City’s strategic and visioning documents and finds this item does not relate to any of the documents.
