Title

REVISIONS TO THE COMMITTEE ON AGING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Body

SUMMARY

The Committee on Aging is one of the Community and Human Services Commission’s standing committees. Recently, the Claremont Senior Foundation, Inc., an independent organization, voted to dissolve after 20 years of service to the community. As a result, the designated Claremont Senior Foundation representative seat is no longer necessary. However, the Commission must approve updated Policies and Procedures for the Committee on Aging to formalize this change.

Eliminating this representative position would result in an even number of voting members on the Committee. To maintain an odd number of voting members and ensure consistency with the membership structure of the City’s other Committees, staff recommends reclassifying the remaining AgingNext representative position from a voting member to a non-voting liaison. Staff have discussed the proposed change with AgingNext, and AgingNext is supportive of the proposed revisions.
